Beepbu makes phone calls for you. To do that it needs your account details, the instructions you send, and a record of the calls it places. This page says exactly what we hold, who else sees it, and how to have it erased.

Who we are

Beepbu (“we”, “us”) provides the Beepbu app and the service at beepbu.com. We are the controller of the personal data described here. Reach us at privacy@beepbu.com.

What we collect

Account details. When you sign in with Google or Apple we receive your name, email address and profile picture from that provider. We never see your Google or Apple password. If you choose to hide your email when signing in with Apple, we only ever hold the relay address Apple gives us.

Your phone number. You give us a number and verify it. We use it to reach you about a call, to connect you when a call needs a live person, and to show the business a callback number where that is appropriate.

What you ask for. The messages you send Beepbu, the businesses you ask it to call, and the preferences you save, such as a usual table size or a dietary restriction.

Call records. For every call Beepbu places on your behalf we store the number dialled, the business, the time, the duration, the outcome, and a transcript of what was said. Transcripts are encrypted before they are written to our database.

Call audio. Beepbu does not record call audio by default. Where recording is switched on, an announcement is played at the start of the call so everyone on the line is told before anything is recorded.

Device permissions you grant. Location, only while the app is open and only to find the nearest branch of a business you asked us to call. Calendar, only to write reservations Beepbu books for you. We do not read your existing calendar entries to build a profile of you. You can refuse or withdraw either permission in your device settings and the rest of the app keeps working.

Push tokens. A device identifier from Apple so we can tell you when a call is finished.

Subscription status. Whether you have an active plan and how many minutes you have left. Purchases run through Apple. Apple handles the payment and we never receive your card number.

Why we hold it

  • To do the thing you asked: place the call, understand what happened, and tell you the result.
  • To keep your account working across your devices and to restore your plan and remaining minutes.
  • To keep the service safe and working, which includes limiting how many calls can be placed and investigating abuse.
  • To meet legal obligations, such as tax records for a purchase.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use your calls or messages to build advertising profiles.

Who else sees it

We use a small number of providers to run the service. Each one gets only what it needs for its part of the job, and none of them is permitted to use your data for its own purposes.

  • Twilio places and carries the phone calls, and receives the number being dialled and the call audio while the call is in progress.
  • Google Firebase handles sign-in and stores your account, chat and call data.
  • Google Maps Platform looks up business details and phone numbers, and receives the search term and, where you granted it, an approximate location.
  • AI model providers process your messages and the call conversation so Beepbu can understand and speak. Content sent to them is not used to train their models.
  • Web search providers are queried for a business’s official number or opening hours, and receive only that query.
  • RevenueCat and Apple manage subscriptions and tell us whether your plan is active.
  • Postmark sends transactional email such as a receipt.

We may also disclose data where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect someone’s safety or our legal rights. If we are ever part of a merger or acquisition, your data may transfer with the service, and this policy continues to apply until you are told otherwise.

The people Beepbu calls

When Beepbu calls a business, it is calling on your behalf and at your instruction. It shares only what the call requires: usually your first name and the details of the booking or question. It will not read out your email address, your saved preferences, or anything about your other calls.

Recording laws differ by state and country, and in some places every party to a call must consent before it is recorded. Where recording is on, we play a disclosure for exactly this reason. You are responsible for making sure the calls you ask Beepbu to place are lawful where you and the recipient are.

How long we keep it

Account details and call records are kept while your account is open, so that your history is there when you look for it. Delete your account and we erase your chats, call sessions, transcripts, scheduled calls and saved preferences from our systems. A short-lived copy may persist in encrypted backups, and we keep the minimum billing records the law requires. Anything a provider holds is deleted in line with their own retention terms.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can delete your account from within the app at any time, which starts the erasure described above. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to object to or restrict processing, to data portability, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Write to privacy@beepbu.com and we will answer within 30 days.

We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we do not use sensitive personal information for any purpose beyond providing the service.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Call transcripts are additionally encrypted at rest. Access to production data is limited to the people who need it to operate the service. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell you promptly if a breach affects your data.

Children

Beepbu is not intended for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us their information, write to us and we will delete it.

International transfers

Beepbu is operated from the United States and your data is processed there. Where data moves from the UK, Switzerland or the European Economic Area, we rely on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses with our providers.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Where a change materially affects how we handle your data, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
